PES 102 Power Metal Repair Fluid

Over the years, many of our customers have used PES 101 Power Metal Paste, PES 106 XF Power Metal Paste for faster cure, or PES 107 XL Power Metal Paste for longer usable pot life, metal filled polymeric products to act as an Irregular Shim. Because all of these products are 100% solids, with no solvent content and no shrink, they are often used underneath base plates to eliminate any voids and provide high compression strengths for equipment and machinery. PES 102 Power Metal Repair Fluid with it’s extremely high thixotropic properties, has long been used to fill pits in pump casings, impellers, and heat exchanger end covers.

102 Metal Repair Fluid is a two component solvent free epoxy metal fairing compound. The product has been designed for use on a wide range of metallic surfaces and once cured is readily machinable. The product is suitable for filling mechanically or abrasive blast cleaned surfaces where excessive pitting and scarring has been caused by corrosion or chemical attack. The material can also be used with aluminum oxide aggregates to create anti-slip finishes on metallic surfaces such as belt rollers, brake test rollers and steps.

Heat Resistance
Suitable for water immersion up to 158°F (70°C) and intermittent contact with steam up to 248°F (120°C). Dry heat resistance up to 392°F (200°C).

PES 102 for Electrical Power Plant

This spring a customer working at an electrical power plant called to request our service supervisor come to his facility and see if we could assist him in grouting in a Sole Plate. Sole Plates are used to support and anchor large horsepower motors, gearboxes, generators, and pumps. Having any void or cavities under these can cause many problems.

Before pumping PES 102 Power Metal Repair Fluid using a 45 to 1 bull dog pump, all plate edges and inserts were caulked using standard RTV silicone caulk to seal these edges. The plate had been pre-drilled and tapped to accept 1/8″ pipe nipples. After the plate was bolted in place, compressed air was used to assure no obstructions were present to hamper the pumping process, and special one way valves-certs were installed on the end of the pipe nipples. The pump’s whip hose was fitted with a special female connection, making moving around and pumping fluid in all areas of the plate easy.
